1st and 2nd grade students played a game this month to learn about and make connections between different careers! We discussed the career cards above as a class and then played 'Heads Up Careers'. This game is just like heads up 7 up, but we used the cards instead of thumbs, and we gave hints about the careers to help students guess who took their card! It was lots of fun!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Career Day today at PES! Our students were lucky enough to hear about 18+ different careers today! Each student rotated through one hour of outside presenters where they learned about: artists, John Deere, EMS, the mobile VET clinic, Gas company, Parole Officer, Police Traffic Division, Animal Control and Community Police. Each student also rotated through one hour of inside presenters where they learned about: hair stylists, pharmacists, attorney, park and rec careers, base firemen, military journalists, physical fitness instructors, dentists, and marine scuba and parachute.
Every Friday in April we is "Purple Up" for military kids at PES! Help support all our military kids and April being the month of the military child by wearing purple on Fridays!
I am excited about our PES 2016 Career Day that is taking place on Wednesday, April 20th! We will have about a dozen different presenters that students will get to meet and learn about their jobs from. In preparation, our guidance lessons this month will focus on careers also! Our activities will hopefully help students learn about different careers, the connection between hobbies and careers, get them thinking about their future, and for the upper grades learn about the career clusters! Check back throughout the month for pictures from our different lessons! This is a picture of our brainstorming activity in one of the 3rd grade classes about the connection between hobbies and careers!
Every Friday in April is 'Purple up for Military Kids'! We invite all students and staff at PES to wear purple tomorrow in honor of all our military kids at PES!
