Today is the first AVID explosion day!!! I am excited to see all of the college shirts on campus today! 4th and 5th grade classes will be taking virtual field trips of some colleges today!
Get your crazy hats out for the 4th and 5th grade dance taking place on Thursday, September 29th immediately after school until 4:00pm in the multipurpose room! Students must have a signed permission slip to attend the dance. Admission to the dance is $5 cash at the door the day of the dance! Can't wait to see you there!!!
I am super excited to have begun classroom lessons this month! So far I have met with 5th grade, 1st grade and 2nd grades. See below for the cool things we have done during class! Fifth grade students learned about how the school counselor can help them this year and about school counselor's jobs by making 'Counselor Catchers'. The students and I had fun playing with these after making them together! 2nd grade students began their 'Froggy and Friends' puppet shows this week! This week's story is all about doing your best. We learned 5 strategies to help you put your 'best foot forward'. Students traced their foot and wrote the 5 strategies on a paper to take home and remind them to always do their best! 1st grade students and I read 'It's Okay to Be Different' by Todd Parr. I love this book! The students and I discussed ways people are different from each other and that is a cool thing! No one on the earth is just like you and we are all important people no matter how we may differ from someone else! The student colored a rainbow to represent them after reading the book!
