I hope Red Ribbon Week 2015 has been fun and educational for the students at PWE! I have so enjoyed seeing all the participation among students and staff! I hope there has been lots of discussion and learning about making healthy life choices and saying NO to bad things! Today might have been my favorite day...crazy sock day! Can you guess whose sock's these are??? Come to the PWE Fall Festival tonight to find out! I was also excited to share my Kindergarten guidance lesson this week with my well behaved kindergarten friends! We read the story of Spookley the Square Pumpkin and had great discussions about how we are all different and special just the way we are! Each student designed their own pumpkin from Spookley's patch to take home and then we had a spookley dance off for those who wanted to participate!
Ms. Asante's kindergarten class couldn't have been any cuter yesterday, showing their Red Ribbon week support by wearing their pajamas! Lots of blue jeans today as well! Be sure to wear your mix matched or crazy socks tomorrow to 'Sock it to Drugs' for our final day of Red Ribbon Week!
Also, be sure to watch out for all the cool posters on display in the cafeteria tomorrow as part of our Red Ribbon Week poster contest! K/1, 2/3, and 4/5 grades will each have a winner chosen from our 'Special Guest Judge' tomorrow! October 21st at PWE was amazing! It was like a sea of Orange and I think if you asked, most children here could tell you that we had on orange that day to show kindness, respect, or to stand up to bullying. That was the most important part to me...for everyone to understand why we were doing it! Check out the amazing photos from that amazing day! Some are featured on the National Bully Prevention Center FB page, the Onslow County School FB page, as well at the PWE website and FB page!
RED'y to Live Drug Free day was a huge sucess! I loved seeing all the Red at PWE today! Tomorrow is Don't Let Drugs MIX YOU UP day. Wear your mix match clothing to show support for a healthy life style!
All month long we have been discussing kindness during classroom guidance lessons. Unity Day is Wednesday, October 21st, Orange Day! Unity Day at PWE is built from kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. We are excited to have Jones Onslow EMC coming to take a school wide picture, of students and staff wearing orange on Unity Day 2015!
This week Kindness Lessons Continued! I also attended my monthly school counselor's meeting at Coastal Carolina Community College. I got lots of great information from the college and got some crafty ideas from my fellow counselors! I love this breathing stick Julie Demming shared to practice calm breathing! Next week big things are happening!!! Unity Day 2015 is happening at PWE!!! OCTOBER 21st get your ORANGE READY!
NEHS October meeting is also taking place Tuesday, the 20th at 1:45. |
